Layers, still.

Greenhouse

It wasn't really warm enough for dresses and shorties, but we were going to see flowers and figured the car and greenhouse would be warm enough -- and they were.

Sisters in matching dresses.  I've been dreaming about this since I found out Beatrix was a girl.  Bea is wearing the Matilda Jane Wendy dress my mom bought for Tillie when she was this age.  Tillie is wearing a size 4 that I bought on Craigslist a couple years ago.  It's getting too short, but it works with shorties and I wasn't going to miss an opportunity for matching Matilda Jane!  Tille's shorties are DreamSpun and you can't see Beatrix's blue dotted Tea leggings.

Not to be left out, Teddy is dressed in Mighty Acorns(Matilda Jane's old boy line).  I found the tee at Village Kids last year and the jacket was Tillie's when she was little. He's 3 going on 15 in this picture and it kills me.

Romper to Layering Tank

I bought Beatrix this Tea romper at OUAC for $1.  It's 6-12 months and if she had grown like Teddy I could have gotten it on her in June at least!

Instead, I layered a Janie & Jack cardigan and Gap jeans over it.

Tillie's worn this outfit many times before(I love it more than she does though), but I think that the cardigan may need to be packed away soon.  Her jeans are H&M and will definitely be too short before her birthday.  Time to look for some H&M coupon codes!

Still Winter

I'm kind of over the kids winter clothes and it shows in my posting.  I was also busy this week, so I didn't get the chance to take pictures, much less upload them.  We went to a school auction with my parents tonight and here's what the kids wore.

Tillie - Striped crewcuts top(Goodwill -- it had a lot of stains when I bought it but I got them out!), Gap jeans, TOMS, Dreamspun bow and a necklace I made.

Teddy - Next rocket tee, red Gap skinny jeans, navy TOMS

Bebe - Gap Love Collection chambray dress, Tea Collection leggings, Livie & Luca Minnie shoes(garage sale!)

A Quick Gardens Stop

I had a few errands on the other side of town, so I decided to make it an "event" and go to the Gardens.  I let the kids watch Elf in the car and they thought it was awesome!

Tillie wore a Jumping Beans top and Cherokee tutu skirt with crewcuts tights and Circo cat shoes.

Teddy's first choice of shirt (a size 3 Tea Collection tee) was too big, so he settled for this Tea fox shirt.  It's layered over a Rabbit Moon button-up (50% off at OUAC) that doesn't really match, but he didn't want to take it off.  It is pretty soft, actually.  Gap jeans and TOMS complete his outfit.

Today we made Bea's Zutano swing top even more festive by adding Christmas BabyLegs,  She's also wearing a Carter's bodysuit and Old Navy tights.  Her bow is Dear Grace and Parker.

A Stripey Day

Fall at the Gardens

Tim had an out of town meeting today and then was getting together with friends after that.  I decided we should have some fun as well, so after kindergarten was done we drove out to Robinette's and the Gardens.

Bea wore and Oilily jumper I found last winter at Once Upon a Child's $1.  It's a 6m, but I think it runs slightly small.  I'm glad it cooled down enough to wear it now, because I don't know how long it will still fit around her neck!  Her socks are Gap and her shoes are Pediped.

I didn't get a great picture of Tillie's outfit, but I've been waiting all summer for her to wear this.  The Tea dress I got for $1 a Once Upon a Child.  Her Gap apple boots I bought at a garage sale 2 years ago.  I just couldn't resist them.  I'm so glad I bought them because she loves them and they actually go with quite a few outfits she has this fall.  Her skinny jeans and boot socks are Gap.

If Ted forgets about his fire truck shirt, this Tea Collection fox tee is his favorite shirt right now.  I might agree with him!  His jeans are Gap and I'm so glad his brown Cons still fit.  Another not great picture.  I just let them play today.

Yikes!  The last week of summer!  And it kind of feels like summer is over since Tim has students tomorrow.  I'm glad that Tillie doesn't start until after Labor day this year.  I guess I better break out all the summery-summer outfits I can this week!

Bea is wearing a Ralph Lauren dress that was a gift from my friend Amy.  It's even prettier in person.

Ted-Ted is wearing his Matilda Jane/Mighty Acorns Little Os overalls.  I don't love it with the white H&M shirt under it, but I didn't think it would work without a shirt for church.  I used safety pins on the straps this time since I had to re-button them every 5 minutes last time he wore them.

I bought Tillie this Tea Collection dress at Once Upon a Child's $1 sale 2 years ago.  It's a size 3, but runs super-wide.  This is the first year that it fits in that regard.  It's now a little short, but I don't mind short lengths.  There are pink stitched stars on it that are hard to see.  It's prettier in person, but I just don't "love" it.  But, when you find Tea for $1 you buy it.

Zoo!

My brother gave the kids a family pass to the zoo for their birthdays and we surprised them with using it this morning.  The weather is decidedly weird, as everyone was wearing jeans and long sleeves IN AUGUST.  It warmed up a bit by this afternoon, but still, so weird.  I don't have a good feeling about this winter.

Bea is wearing a Naartjie outfit I bought when we were in Chicago two weeks ago.  It's darling on her, but it's hard to get a great picture of it.

Teddy's wearing a Tea Collection tee I got at Snapdragon's tent sale in July.  I like that it's a different style from all his crewcuts tees.  His jeans are Gap and his shoes are Converse.

Cold and Windy

The wind definitely has a bite to it today!  I'm very thankful we still have power as a lot of people around the area don't.  And yeah, it was too cold to take a picture outside today, but Til is awesome.  She's wearing a crewcuts top I bought before I stopped working and a cord skirt I got on super-clearance recently.  It's pretty cute with her crewcuts ruffle socks and navy Converse.

I took some pictures of Ted outside, but they were all blurry as he never stops moving.  I found this striped Tea Collection tee at Goodwill last week.  It's great, no stains!  His hat was $5 at a fundraising sale 2 years ago -- it still fits!  I've been thinking about having my cousin make him a  new one as it is getting a little small.  His jeans are Gap and shoes are Converse.

Sweet Find

A couple weeks ago we were running errands and I gave Tillie the choice as to whether or not we would stop at Goodwill before going home.  I'm so glad she chose the store!  I found this Tea Collection dress there for $1.99!  (And three Gap dresses in her size.)  Wearing it with pink Keens wouldn't be my first choice, but it's great for Camp.

Rainy-Rain-Rain

The skies are gray and I have badly lit pictures to prove it!

This week's preschool theme is Easter and Spring.  I thought this yellow H&M butterfly dress fit the bill well.  Every year they have a simple knit dress in a bunch of patterns for $5.  We bought this one last year, but I'm pretty sure Tillie would like some of this year's prints as well.  It's a size 2-4.  It fit her well last summer and I think it will be great this summer too.  Today we layered it with a Cherokee tee for warmth.  She asked for the crewcuts leggings so she wouldn't be cold.  I think they were a great addition.  You can't see it, but she also has a yellow Goody butterfly clip.  She was delighted at that match.

Inconsistent Sizing - Boys Clothes

I brought this up a few days ago, but I decided to do a little photo shoot to prove my point.  We'll see if it's actually noticeable or not.  (Part of me has the feeling that it might work better in 18-24m or 2t.)  My little guy is currently around 23ish lbs and 31ish" tall.  (To my measuring.  He has a doctor's appointment in a week.)  So, he's not very big at 18 months.  All of the shirts he's wearing in these photos are size 12-18m/18m and have been washed and dried.  I've listed each company's size chart information as well.

First Impressions(Macy's) - 18m (29-31", 22-26lbs)

I really like the fit of this shirt.  The sleeves aren't actually as short as they look in this photo, he just wanted to "see" the monster.

babyGap - infant boy 12-18m (29-31" 22-27lbs)

This one is a body double and the fit is great.

Baby Boden  - 12-18m (30-32.5", 22-26.5lbs)

In my experience, all Mini-Boden runs a little big.  They always seem to wear a size smaller than tagged.  Teddy's still comfortably wearing 6-12m Boden shirts.  (This isn't just boys though, Tillie's still wearing 2-3y Boden as well.)  I think this shirt is too long in length and the sleeves are a touch long as well.

Carter's - 18m (30.5 – 32.5", 24.5 – 27.5 lbs)

Carter's size chart is slightly different from the other brands so far, but not ridiculously so.  Teddy doesn't have many 18-24m shirts for summer, so I picked this up at Kohl's with a coupon a couple weeks ago.  The 24m were so large that I knew they would be HUGE this summer.  As Tillie was able to wear this 18m no problem I'm confident Teddy will be able to wear this until the weather cools again.  Right now, it's a little long for my taste.

Gymboree - 12-18m (29-31", 22-27lbs)

This shirt is HUGE.  I think the fit is more what I would consider 2t.  Maybe he'll be able to wear it in the fall but the phrase makes more sense on a littler guy. *sigh*

babyGap - toddler boy 12-18m (29-31" 22-27lbs)

Interestingly enough, Gap lists the same size chart for Toddler as they do for Infant.  However, I think the Toddler runs a little bigger overall.

Zara - 12-18m (32", 24lbs)

Zara uses European sizing, so the size chart I've listed are the English equivalent.  This is a bit bigger than I would like, but that is a little consistent with the size chart.

Tea - 12-18m (29-31", 22-27lbs")

I love the fit of this tee.  Tea Collection, if I recall, seems to run pretty true to size for Ted.

Looking back at all of these pictures I feel like it may be harder to see the differences.  In real life I can see where things are just hanging.  And, there is the fact that I like his clothes to be more fitted.  He's so small that when things are baggy they just look sloppy on him.  Thankfully fitted clothes are in style right now.

Palm Sunday

My baby in a tie.  He looks like a mini-version of a high school basketball player on game day.  The Cherokee tie is from Target's after Christmas clearance, either 50-70% off.  The button-up is Teddy Lu and the cargos are Gap Naval Academy.

Tillie's wearing that other Tea outfit that I couldn't believe I hadn't posted on here before.  She's worn it a ton and it's decidedly shorter on her than when I first bought it.

First Day of Spring!

And we're all in warm winter clothes.  It's just a little bit different than last year.

I thought for sure I'd already posted this Tea outfit of Tillie's, but I don't see it in the "Tea Collection" link besides the jumper on Thanksgiving.  I bought it all at a consignment sale and they were all from the same consignor.  The jumper and tee were sold separately and the leggings were part of dress/leggings set.  (Which is also not posted.  Weird.  She wore it all the time last fall!  I swear I can remember taking the picture on our front step.)  I recently bought the pink sparkly TOMS on facebook.  They're an 8 and just a little too big, but should be perfect by the time it actually warms up.  The necklace is crewcuts.

Teddy's wearing Old Navy corduroy overalls and thermal.  He hasn't worn through the knee on these yet!

It's Here!

Valentine's Week is upon us again.  Tillie and I (and maybe Teddy) will be wearing red and/or pink everyday until the 14th.  We started out today with a red Old Navy tee.  Tillie's had this shirt in every size since 18-24m.  I think got them for about 80¢ each.  This is the end of the road.  I'm sure buying a 4t shirt when she was 1 seemed ridiculous.  (Honestly, a 3t does too.  But hey, less than a dollar!)  Her jean skirt is also Old Navy and the heart tights are Gymboree Homecoming Kitty.  My mom got her the necklace.  It says "God is Love on the silver circle.

Teddy's wearing an outfit he's worn many times before, but it has red and matched Tillie. Tea cardigan, Peek, button-up and Gap Naval Acaemy jeans.  He stayed home all day so he never got shoes or socks.

A Books on the Bed Day

We had a stay-at-home-snow-day today!  Tillie wore her Matilda Jane Bobbi Jo dress, Cherokee polka-dot layering tee and Gymboree Glamour Ballerina leggings.  The crewcuts necklace she added on her own.  Five minutes after she got dressed I found her wearing it.  She's good with color and that makes me happy.

I got the leggings a week ago with Gymbucks.  They're a great alternative to Matilda Jane leggings.  $5 is more my style lately.  I got them in white, baby pink and a salmonly pink that looks great with the Stargazer Pearl.  These are a size 5, so they should fit her for ages.  They're rolled at the waist once.  (It was the only size they had.

Card Outfits, Again

Today for church my kids wore the outfits I had them wear for our annual Christmas card pictures.  I'm in love with the red, navy, gold color combo for Christmas this year.  The last few years have been a lot of red and black, so this was a nice change.

I fell in love with Teddy's outfit last August.  The lobster bodysuit and gold cords are from the Gap Maine line and his sweater is from the Tea Collection, his shoes See Kai Run.  Couldn't you just eat him up?  He looked just as cute today, with slightly shorter hair.

For the pictures, Tillie wore and Old Navy velvet dress(clearance 2 years ago), crewcuts ivory tee and striped sparkle tights and silver Circo sparkles shoes.  The shoes are too big, but I didn't want her to wear black since every one else was wearing navy.  Today black shoes were okay and since I was changing that I decided to pull out some striped TrumpetteToo tights and a white Old Navy tee instead.  She declared herself to be a Christmas elf.
